THE EMOTIONAL BODY
|
SO HERE'S THE STORY...
The Emotional Body began as a personal art/photo project. At the start of 2020, I had the honor of photographing 10 amazing people in embodied movement sessions.
As I looked through the photos after the sessions, to my surprise, a book emerged.
An ode to the intelligence of the human body, and a prayer that it continue to be listened to.
This book takes the reader on a journey into themselves to experience the ways emotions guide physical movement, expression and self understanding. The book is a combination of photography, poetry, essays on somatic healing, and personal accounts from the participants about their experience of the embodied movement sessions and their impact.
The book is only available in hardcover as a plea to spend less time absorbing information from a screen. I believe we, as humans, are able to be more connected to our senses—and therefore more connected to our selves and each other— when reading a book where we can feel the texture of the pages on our skin, and feel the movement of the turning of the pages in our bodies.

Watch this interview about the book with the wonderful folks at Oneironautics!
We talk about my original vision for the book, what the reader can expect, the photography, my own vulnerability and challenges throughout the process, and I read a sneak-peak excerpt from the book! The chat really gets going around 3:45. |
