SOMATIC HEALING
In the safety and loving space that Teagan created, I was able to face my pains, fears, anger, release from the regrets of my past, and open myself up to a presence of consciousness, love, and pure potential that I had not known possible.
~ Hycel B. Taylor III
"Somatic" comes from the Greek word "soma," meaning "body."
Somatic Healing is a body-oriented approach to overcome trauma, unhealthy patterns, anxiety, dissociation, or to understand the physical manifestations of emotional and energetic wounds. In these sessions, we use a combination of conversation and somatic tools (breath, sensation, slow movement, imagery, and sound) to help you feel safe in your body and learn your body’s language. We gently explore the information your body is sharing, and help you to form new pathways towards healing, connection, and aliveness. |
How Does Somatic Healing Work?
Every moment of your life is experienced through your body.
Most trauma or wounding can't be healed by simply talking about it or thinking about it. This is because the body remembers information based on what an event feels like. Why we feel the way we feel is not always logical, and yet it is visceral and real to each of us.
Somatic Healing is a way to get in touch with the feelings of an event in order to discharge or move through the energy that the body is holding from that event. When you get to experience a positive shift in the feeling body, it lets your nervous system know that it’s safe to be where you are. From safety comes possibility, from possibility comes choice, and from choice comes the discovery of new options for the way you move through your life.
Life is unpredictable, but the relationship with yourself can be a safe space to come back to.
As you learn more of the language of your body, you create a map of felt knowledge that will forever be a resource, so that even after our work together is complete, you have tools that live within you always.
